Heifer International does so much more than put food in the mouths of hungry people it helps people feed themselves by donating animals (cows, ducks, chickens, water buffaloes, goats, llamas, etc. – 30 species in all), to villagers in developing countries, as well as to Americans in 38 States and 68 countries total. They teach the recipients how to care for the animals, providing shelter, food and health needs. They are also taught how to use the by-products (the milk, the eggs, the wool, the offspring, the manure, etc.) to benefit them and their families for the present generation as well as for the next. And, through a program called “Passing on the Gift,” the recipients of the donated animals are obligated to pass on the first female offspring to his or her neighbor. Eventually the entire village benefits from the donation! ERGE Designs owners David Keeton and Frank Quijada, feel especially fortunate to have such a highly successful clothing company based in Los Angeles, with all of its garments being manufactured in the United States. With this success David and Frank strongly feel that they have a duty, an obligation and responsibility to give back to those born in less fortunate circumstances. ERGE who is fortunate enough to reside in the United States, undoubtedly the richest country in the world have become a long time supporter of Heifer International. Over 3 billion people in the world live on less than $2 per day. This is less than a cup of Starbucks latte coffee; less than a gallon of gasoline, the same as two pulls on the dollar slot machine in Vegas. By donating our time, skills and contribution to Heifer, We know that families throughout the world are building towards a more self-reliant existence. ERGE Designs would like to contribute in exposing Heifer International to more business owners and to the world. We at ERGE would like to alleviate poverty and hunger around the world and numerous families will be receiving animals providing them with income and lifting their dignity.
